About us

1.   The Pimlico Chess Club is open to anyone. However, participation in the Civil Service League and the London Commercial Chess League is limited to current or former members of staff at the Home Office or the Ministry of Justice or any associated public bodies.

2.   We were founded in 1985. Originally called the Home Office Chess Club, we changed our name to the Home Office and Justice Chess Club in 2007 and then to Pimlico Chess Club in 2011. We currently have about 25 members ranging in strength from novice to FIDE Master.

3.   We run two teams in the Civil Service League (CSL divisions 1 and 2), one team in the London Commercial League (LCL division 1), one team in the London League Minor Division, and two teams in the new Central London League. The Minor Division and Central London League teams are open to anyone.

4.   Our venue is the Pimlico Rooms, St Saviour's Church, St George's Square, Lupus Street, London SW1
(nb full postcode not given as it is inaccurate). Pimlico tube station is very close. See venue pictures here.

5.   Our club night is Thursday. We mostly play league matches but we have some social events as well.

6.   Our Constitution is here.

7.   Our AGM is held in April or May each year.
